A Welcome Soaking
We’ve been experiencing a welcome level of rain in Central Texas this week. No severe weather. Just a general soaking rain for the last couple of days with more forecast through the weekend.
Unfortunately, here’s what the yard looks like. I snapped these from the front and back porches:
The interior side yard
The front yard
The other side of the front yard
The outer side yard
This is the drip line along the side of the house
This is the back triangle
The far back yard
This is along the back of the house outside the back door. This is why hubby wants to raise the yard about a foot — to increase drainage away from the house.
Wow. Sounds like your DH has a good idea there. How about making a pond? ;D
Well, there are plans to make significant changes to the interior side yard. The utility shed is planned to move approximately even with that short bit of fence in front of it. Two greenhouses will be installed between it and the garage. The front corner of the garage is getting an entry porch with appropriate landscaping around to the side. I know he plans some terracing effect, which could lend itself to a small pond. We haven’t discussed that as far as I know. My dad does some good things with gold fish ponds, though, so it’s tempting.
Your plans sound lovely and I experienced a small twinge of envy when I read you’ll have two greenhouses. I love water features although I understand they can be work. I hope your yard is dried out by now.
Yes, the yard is dried out. We have sand, so moisture is absorbed quickly, thankfully. The plan is to merge the two greenhouses into one. If you’re familiar with Harbor Freight, we have the 5×7 and 8×10 versions. I think the plan is to T them together.
