MGR Tour: My Favorite Writing Place
Welcome to another Merry Go Round Blog Tour Installment. This month we’re exploring our favorite writing places. Mostly, I write at the computer, but this year I’m focusing on revisions, and I’ve found handwriting my revision at the kitchen table to be more enjoyable than I had anticipated.
Some people like to write at coffee shops, but I have never found them to be particularly productive for me. I like the atmosphere, but they don’t fit my up and about writing style. I tend to write for a few minutes, get up and do something around the house, write for a few more minutes, get up and do something else, so not being at home is not particularly productive for me.
This is my primary writing set-up:
You’ll note I have the Mac Mini (attached to the fixed 17″ screen), the Macbook Air (on the right), and the iPad. All play a significant role in my writing process.
I have wondered about an Amtrak writing retreat. Hubby and I are taking a “Grand Tour” train trip in May, and I plan to see if I can make productive use of my time on the train. That time is coming up fast, so I had better figure out what I need to write about on that trip.
Here’s what I’ll be looking forward to writing on in May:
So far, I have to conclude my favorite writing place is home. Preferably alone. I’ll let you know how the train goes, though, because I think that would be really fascinating.
I also tend to work in spurts because while I am doing the alternate project I am thinking about the main project and its solutions. Kind of a back burner simmer thinking. Mom
Exactly, Mom. I think it keeps forward progress going.
