House Comparison
I mentioned getting the second color coat on the front wall of the house in my last post. Here’s a picture (by the way, you can always click on the thumbnails in the post for a larger picture if you want more detail):
I periodically take a shot of the house from a particular perspective. This gives us some idea of how it changes over time. Some changes we realize and others are interesting to note. Let’s compare two pictures. The first is from the day we closed on the house in mid-March 2007:
This next shot is from today, March 27, 2012 (five years and nearly two weeks later for the mathematically challenged):
What are some of the differences you notice?
- Yes, the front wall is painted a different color
- The front steps are in terrible shape
- The mailbox has been added in preparation for tearing out the front steps (we have a mail slot by the front door, so we have to provide a place to deliver mail while we’re working)
- Some foliage has been removed from the front foundation
- The gates have been added at the corner of the fence
- A brick from the chimney is on the porch roof
- The old heating-AC unit has been replaced with a heat pump (that’s the downstairs unit — around back are two units that handle the upstairs, which still need to be replaced)
- It may not be easy to see, but there was a tree where the driveway (tan trailer) is now
- More paint has fallen off the upstairs fishscale
- A couple pieces of wooden trim have come loose
What have I missed?
