Q is for Quirkiness
This post brought to you by @ToriDeaux on Twitter, who likely has no idea I’m crediting her with it. She has done a number of tweets about Quirky Business (which I confess to not really understanding the context for), but the term stuck in my mind, so I thought I’d examine it here.
Quirkiness, a strange attitude or habit; oddity. In polite terms, something which brings uniqueness to a person, place, or object. Generally speaking, quirkiness is used to describe some quaint oddity about a person. It’s not usually a term used to describe serious character flaws. It may be endearing or mildly off-putting, but it typically won’t get the perpetrator banned from a location or put into jail. Unless the person describing the activity is going for massive understatement.
Are you aware of any of your quirks? I’m sure I have them, but I couldn’t say what they are. If you know me, what quirks have you observed that I have?
I have blue hair, but only the bangs. I’d say that’s probably a quirk.
You? You talk to imaginary polar bears . . .
There is that… 😀
Hey, there, since I don’t know you, I can’t speak to any quirks you have, but I reckon maybe people might say about me is that I’m pretty much a normal person, but I like to wear hats everywhere. Does that make me sound quirky? Ha. I am nearly 79. Does that make the habit a little more quirky? Ha ha ha. Best regards to you. Ruby aka Grammy
