Cats: All 8 + 2
I think Lady is playing with the kittens more than she’s batting them about with her paw. I’m not absolutely certain, but I think it.
Tarzan and Natasha are doing fine. I was concerned about Ajax. He’s been vomiting a lot. Daily for the last week. I took him to the vet on Wednesday. The vet did blood work and found nothing wrong. He suspects Ajax has been eating his fill of dry food, then drinking water. Water, of course, expands the dry food, making him uncomfortable. The only relief he can get is to barf. The explanation made sense to me, and the water tower was right next to the food tower. As a trial, I moved the water tower across the room. Ajax hasn’t vomited since.
Last week, I took three of the four kittens to the vet. One for a cough and the other two for a skin issue. He gave me antibiotics for Delta and her cough. Either she had a virus that ran it’s course, or the antibiotics did their job, because I haven’t heard her cough since two or three days after taking her in. He thinks the skin thing might be ringworm. I’ve been treating them with an ointment, and it seems to be doing the trick.
As I was despairing of the kittens ever making the step of letting me approach them or them actually approaching me, and Floyd did both this afternoon. Delta allowed the same. Ruby is leaning toward being approachable. We’re still tentative, but I see more progress.
That brings us to Rossie, who has been very reticent. She’s spending more time out of the carrier. Progress.
Hubby reports that Peaches and Sneaky are both eating from the timed feeder on the back porch up in Central TX. I’m pleased to hear this, because I placed that feeder on the porch for them. I don’t really want other neighborhood cats eating from it, and so far, that doesn’t seem to be the case.
I love your little kitten stories.
