January Property Update
Things have been quiet on the property front this month. We’ve had the holidays, a little rain, a couple of minor illnesses, and, generally, we’ve been taking it easy.
In San Antonio, we trimmed a few limbs, raked a few leaves, and burned some firewood. We got the bathroom sink drain repaired and the toilet tank rebuilt. We replaced two TVs, one not working, with the flatscreen from Central TX whose HDMI inputs went bad — it’s still a great TV at better than standard resolution and a monitor/TV (if I want to, I can hook up my Mac Air and use it as a 24″ monitor, either as a dual screen for the Air or mirror the screens). It’s a little mushier on the TV picture side than I’d like, but hubby hasn’t complained.
For the ranch, we received and completed our 5 year US Agricultural Census form. I don’t think we’re the farmers and ranchers they’re after, but it is agricultural land.
Hubby has been puttering around the shop. He put together a few more bags of trash. We cleared a few more five foot squares of floor of old linoleum (that stuff is nasty). He’s nearly ready to assemble his tool cage, but he wants to scrape and paint a wall first. The gantry crane for the Backyard Buddy lift should be here next week. He has the trailer cleared off in preparation for bringing it to the house for the shipper to offload the crane to the trailer for us to transport it to the shop. He nearly has half the showroom cleared in preparation for him to paint the ceiling (that’s been in the plans for several years, but it keeps getting pushed back for various reasons, but that ceiling will look great with a fresh coat of silver paint). Oh, yes, and he’s sifted ten buckets of dirt, so we have some very pretty dirt to spread on the yard.
We haven’t done anything at the house or the store this month. Well, I’ve kept up with laundry, dishes, litter boxes, and trash at the house. Routine stuff, but when you’re under the weather, it feels good just to get that done.
