Tech Stuff: Keyboards
How often do you think about your keyboard? Most of the time, it just works, right? How many of you are using the default keyboard that came with your computer? How many are using an ergonomic or other type of keyboard?
I’m using a DVORAK keyboard, because I thought I wanted to learn DVORAK and having the keys marked would make me more inclined to learn. So far (and it’s been more than a year), it hasn’t worked out that way. I prefer a separate numeric keypad, even though I don’t do a lot of number entry.
I have a nice Bluetooth keyboard that works well on my iPad and my iPhone. I’m certain it would work for my desktop and laptop computers as well. I’m intrigued by the solar powered keyboard. Unfortunately, I bought mine right before those came out.
So far, I’m talking about standard, ho-hum keyboard stuff. Is there any cutting edge keyboard work going on? For some ideas, check out 13 Keyboards You Haven’t Seen Before. Almost a year ago, there was some news about a technology that might give touchscreens more tactile feel to them. In short, there are a lot more options available than the standard keyboard. Are they worthwhile? Only you can say.
You’re right I’ve never really thought about it. Mine is just the freebee that came with the computer.
I always just use whatever they give me to use, for a keyboard 😛 My time at home is spent on my MacBook Pro, and at work it’s a normal keyboard for a PC. I used to have a more ergonomic keyboard but that was in a previous job 🙂
