House Update: Yards
The theme over the last month has been related to generally springtime activities of yard work and working in and around the yards. Here’s what’s been going on:
We’ve just spent a couple of weeks at the San Antonio house getting it ready for spring: Mowing, hedge trimming, fence painting, tree trimming, hot tub maintenance, trash tree cutting, and weeding. There’s still more to do (it’s a self-perpetuating forest down there!), but the yard is presentable for now.
I came back up to Central Texas this week to take care of the yard at the house. I got it mowed and trimmed earlier this week, and I got the hedges this morning between rain showers. I haven’t begun to deal with the front island yet, and it’s a veritable jungle in there. I’m going to have to devote some time to it — preferably before it gets too much warmer outside. If I don’t do that, I’ll have to chalk it up as a lost cause for this year and deal with it over the winter.
We got two inches of rain last week, so I’m sure the store property needs to be mowed again. If it’s dry, I’ll head over there later today to get started on that.
Mr L has cleared two segments of the wash area cover from the top of it. There are still four or five segments to go (it’s a wooden cover placed over the top of the area where the car dealership must have washed vehicles just inside the big door to the shop). He’ll be able to salvage most of the planking for other projects. I’ve cleared up most of the front area after our yard sale at the beginning of last month.
We haven’t done anything out at the ranch, but I’m willing to bet the hayfield is off to a good start this year.
