Cats: Sequestration Update
I think I mentioned Lady has been sequestered in the cage to keep her from hunting and attacking Rossie. First. Lady does get out of the cage a couple of times a day, but I close the parlor door, and she’s limited to the parlor and kitchen area. She wants out when she’s in, but when she’s out, she curls up on a box and sleeps. I do think it’s good for her to get out. I can also monitor her interactions with the other cats who are in the rooms when I close the door. She gets some attention during these times, too. Her back pain seems to have stayed away. Her back muscles haven’t tightened up again.
We have noticed Delta and Ruby are more visible downstairs with Lady in the cage. Mr. L says Rossie is out more, and I’ve even seen Rossie a few times. One time this week, I came into the room when Rossie was laying on the bed, and she stayed there (I didn’t approach her). I keep hoping Rossie will come downstairs in the evening while I’m still down here, but she must be coming later at night. We have a water tower and a litter box upstairs, but all the food towers are in the kitchen. Rossie does seem to be getting enough to eat, so she must be coming downstairs late at night when we’re asleep.
Lady keeps pulling toys from outside the cage into the cage. The other cats must be helping her. I think I’m going to have to pull a few toys out of the cage tomorrow so the other cats have something to play with.
In related news, Mr. L has seen Ruby and Daphne playing, and he thinks he may have seen Rossie playing with Daphne. That last is unconfirmed. I would dearly love for Rossie and Daphne to bond with one another. Rossie needs a kitty friend in addition to Ajax.
