Mobile Readers
Mobile readers, I just discovered a few usability issues for the site (my sidebar is virtually inaccessible to you). The mobile version of the site looks great (I think), but I need to keep in mind how it looks and works when I’m referring to things in posts.
I’m not sure what the best fixes are, but I’m going to see what I can do. If you have any suggestions, I’d love hearing them.
I’d recently removed the “Viper Bar” at the top which is an alternative way for people to sign up for the RandR Fiction Club. I believed it wasn’t necessary. But, when I discovered the sidebar is inaccessible, I re-activated the Viper Bar. The red strip at the top will allow all readers another way to join the club. Turns out the bar might be useful after all.
I checked my theme settings, and I had sidebars hidden in the mobile mode! I changed that to sidebars being stacked, so now they appear as you scroll down below the comment area on a post.
I’m strongly tempted to get the paid version of this theme. Then I can customize my mobile modes for the various types of mobile devices, thus allowing an optimal display based upon the type of device a reader is using– from small screen phones to larger tablets and everything in between.
This theme (Weaver II) is solid, and I’ve been very happy with it. I’ve been looking into buying the Pro version for several months now. Getting closer to springing for it, as mobile readers are more and more prevalent.
