Cats: Adjusting to San Antonio
Everyone is settling into their San Antonio routine, which naturally differs from the Central Texas routine. The biggest challenge is an inability to allow Lady to be out and about separate from Rossie, so supervision is much closer in San Antonio. On a brighter note, Lady loves to go outside, and when she’s in San Antonio, she can wander the back yard. Of course, we’re slated for a lot of rain, so that limits her time outside.
We tried an experiment. Rossie rode down in a carrier with towel used by Lady. I put her carrier in the cage when we got here, and now Lady is using a towel with both her and Rossie’s scent on it. Lady is almost a week into her Reconcile prescription. She still seems aggressive with the other cats. We haven’t let her near Rossie yet to see how that goes.
Ruby wasn’t in the San Antonio house for five minutes before she opened the cupboard door and climbed up behind the kitchen sink. I chased her out, and I’ve blocked the cupboard doors with the dishwasher (one huge benefit of a roll around dishwasher).
The cats don’t much care for the ride down or back up to Central Texas, but they settle in quickly to either house. Sneaky, of course, is holding down the fort in Central Texas.
