Purple. Why Purple?
Farrah opened her present from Grandmother Isaacson. She stifled a groan and made sure she put on the biggest grin she could as soon as possible as she pulled out the awful purple sweatsuit and held it up for the picture. “Thank you, Grandmother. I’ll be able to put this to good use.” As window cleaning rags.
Her mother handed her the next present, also from Grandmother. “What could this be?” She carefully unwrapped it, saving the paper as best she could. “Oh! Look! A locker set. Thank you.” It had to be purple. What was it with Grandmother and purple? At least I know what to do with this. Jane’s friend Lisa would love it. She carefully laid the locker set aside and watched while her sister opened her presents from Grandmother Isaacson. A hot cocoa mug set with fancy cocoas and flavorings. In purple. And a sweatsuit to match hers. In purple. Of course. They could both look like something from Teletubbies. Great. How come Grandmother couldn’t understand her favorite color was green and Greta’s was orange? Why did she make everything purple? Just because it was HER favorite color didn’t mean it was everyone else’s favorite color.
Her mother made it worse, “Why don’t you girls run upstairs and put on your new sweatsuits so grandmother can see how they look on you? When you come down, we’ll have breakfast.”
