Wednesday Wanderings
Knees. Do yours bother you? If you’ve been following me for any length of time, you know mine do, and lately, they’ve been worse than ever. I thought I mentioned it here, but I can’t find a reference to it, but back in March, I my foot slipped on the stairs, and I wrenched my knee. My younger knees wouldn’t have had any problem with what happened — thankfully, I did not fall, but this decrepit left knee objected painfully to such sudden movement. I’ve confirmed that I strained or sprained the knee — not sure which, and X-rays back in June revealed no structural damage (but confirmed their overall condition has deteriorated). The knee has been sore since the incident but it’s been more or less stable. Until a couple weeks ago.
We were in San Antonio, sitting at the kitchen table and working on a puzzle with the television on — a typical evening in our household. I went to move, and my left knee locked in the straight position. With some effort, I was able to get it to bend, but it hurt. After the sharp, throbbing pain diminished, several minutes later, the knee has been locking and less than stable since. When it unlocks, I hear a crunching sound and feel what feels like an electric shock in the knee.
Something feels very wrong in the knee. I see my doctor for my semi-annual visit tomorrow. You know this will be an item of discussion.
