Tech Stuff: Last Time
About a month ago, I was reading a list of recommended apps and noticed one called Last Time. I read about it, but I already use several tracking apps. Wouldn’t this be a duplicate of something I already have? I wasn’t sure.
As time passed, I began to wonder. Nothing I use seemed to fill that niche. When was the last time I got a haircut? How about when I last changed out my toothbrush? When did we make salmon last? Nothing earth shattering, but it was either too time consuming to track down in the calendar or maybe the information wasn’t recorded anywhere, and I just had a general sense of, “I think it was around this time.”
I didn’t even remember the name, but I finally searched on “last time” and sure enough, that was the app. $1.99. I took a chance on it for that price. I don’t see an Android version.
You can use it to track things you want to do less often to see if you’re being successful or things you want to do more often for the same reason.
As far as I can tell, the app doesn’t have the capability to sync across devices. You can do a back up and restore. The generous number of icons for categories are a little nebulous, but you can rearrange their location, and of course, with the picture icon, you can have it mean whatever you want. I don’t see any way to adjust color schemes or themes. You can use images from your Camera Roll, which gives you good flexibility. It’s a basic timer app with a a few things to customize, but I think it will be handy. It does keep history for each item you are tracking.
I’ve given some thought to the way to write my items to track. Do I want to track the negative or the positive of a certain item? For certain items (last oil change, for instance), this isn’t an important question. But, for instance, will it be more effective to track “met calorie goal” or “exceeded calorie goal.” In these instances, I rely on the the adage that you “get what you measure,” so I wrote the goal for what want to do every day.
