Cats: Uncooperative
Cats have a mind all their own. They just are not interested in my agenda or what’s good for them.
I’ve had no luck trapping anyone this week. Junior was on the porch last night, and he triggered the trap, but he was fast enough to escape before it caught him. He’d eaten all but the furthest bit of bait. He wouldn’t even consider going back in today.
Boomer and Walter have been around, but they’ve come mostly after dark.
Sneaky’s ears still seem to be bothering her, so we’re catching her each evening and bringing her inside to medicate her with another round of the medicine.
Rossie is in the cage, seemingly unhappy, but she was unhappy out of the cage. The night before last, I let her out, and she walked out and took refuge behind the trunk by the window. Last night, when I let her out, she took refuge where we couldn’t reach her and was not anxious to be caught. She’s getting medicine for her urinary tract infection, so I hope she’ll feel better soon in at least one area of her life.
I’ve ordered the cat bag and ThunderShirt. I don’t know if they will help or hinder her, but I’m going to give them a try. I remind myself when she was loose in the house, she spent most of her time hiding in a confined space, so her spending most of her time in the carrier inside the cage isn’t any different for her.
The other cats seem happier. So, this change has, in my view, resulted in a net improvement in the feline stress levels in the house. But we still have an apparently unhappy kitty, and we’ll continue working with her.
Poor kitties. There seems to be a disruption in the force lately.
We got a Thundershirt for our rat terrier, who is terrified to the point of physical distress by thunderstorms and fireworks displays. My daughter says it didn’t work for BD, but maybe it’ll help Rossie. BD craves body contact when she’s scared, and prefers to be between two people. If she can’t get a person to hold her, she’ll curl up with the black lab mix on his bed.
Good luck!
Thanks for visiting my blog and commenting (www.dianeweidenbenner.com) We’ve trapped many cats, fixed them and either found them homes or I’ve kept them (or a friend of mine has). I recognized the “live trap” in your photo. We had to trap one of my kitties back inside the house when he accidentally got out. He was gone for two weeks before I succeeded and it was nerve-wracking. I hope your surgery went well and that you’re back on your feet.
