Cats: Sapphire Update
Sapphire is acting more kitten-like. She plays (usually later in the evening). During the say, she prefers to find a dark spot and sleep. I’m certain this is the feral influence. Her mother taught her well. She’s a sweet kitten, though, and will lay on my chest or, this morning, sit on my lap comfortably. She is not approaching us yet, but I’ve seen her lying toward the front of her carrier and watching, sitting on the scratch box in the cage, and spending some time near Rossie behind the cage or behind the scratch tower.
She is not afraid of Lady or Daphne (but will seek protective cover if necessary, because she’s still much smaller than them – she’s not intimidated, but she’s not stupid either). If anything, Daphne appears to be afraid of her. Maybe because she realizes she’s not the baby anymore?
Rossie and Sapphire were playing the other day. Racing around the room chasing each other. I was heartened to see it.
Walter made a surprise appearance mid-morning last week. He happily consumed a can of Fancy Feast and allowed himself to be petted.
Lady was driving us bonkers with lap requests, so Mr. L brought a chair in from the parlor and placed it between us at the kitchen table, and Lady happily has claimed it for her own. She sleeps on it during the day and happily accepts attention while we are working our evening jigsaw puzzles. Lady is happiest when she’s near us. That’s one reason not having to cage her at night is working out so much better.
Junior is very skittish, but he wants his Fancy Feast. Sneaky has been MIA quite a bit this week, but she shows up on the game camera and periodically for Fancy Feast and attention. Boomer is making regular game camera appearances.
All the other inside cats are doing well.
