Cats: Nothing to See Here
Nothing to see here; everyone is doing fine. We’ve been in San Antonio most of the week, and the crew has been one their own, except Rossie and Sapphire, who accompanied us to San Antonio.
In outdoor news, we found a new automatic feeder last week. It cost twice as much as the one I was using, but this one is much easier to program and holds nearly as much food. So far, it’s working wonderfully. We’ll see how durable it is, but right now, I like it. As currently programmed, it will feed the cats for ten days. With a little adjustment in the amount of food the feeder drops, I’ll be able to extend it’s “range” to three weeks or more without trouble.
When we were preparing to return to Central Texas, we had to gather Rossie and Sapphire. Mr. L picked Rossie up easily, but he didn’t realize the carrier was right next to him, so I tried to help help, and in adjusting the carrier, Rossie got spooked. Instead of just letting her go, we fought with her. She bit and scratched me. The bite was pretty serious. Of course, we let her go. While I was attending to the bite, Mr. L sweet-talked Rossie into the carrier, and she gave him no trouble.
This reinforces the wisdom that it’s better to let the cat go and come back a few minutes later than to try to fight with them. The human will lose.
Sapphire is still not letting us approach her. For some reason, while she’s curious about us, she remains fearful of us. I guess in her time, she will come around.
