Essential Oils: Curious?
Essential oils? Aren’t those some kind of New Age thing? Or maybe something from Biblical times? All that and more? How do you know what to do with them? Who to trust? What do you look for when choosing them? How do you know what to do with them? I can’t speak for you, but I can tell you about my process.
I’d been hearing about essential oils on the periphery of my attention for several years. I’d heard they could help alleviate or maybe even prevent a wide variety of conditions. Frankly, it sounded too good to be true. But. I also knew herbal medicine had been around since the dawn of time — at least human time. I knew Essential Oils played a huge role in Biblical times. So, I figured there must be something to this.
Another “but” though. I didn’t want to sift through all the information. Every Tom, Dick, and Harry has an essential oil. I saw my mom post about how some oils had helped her obtain relief from a particularly troubling problem she deals with. Shortly afterward, I visited my parents and surrounding family. We talked oils. My niece came over with her amazing bucket of oils. I made a quick check with a friend who was more knowledgeable about homeopathic things than I was. My friend confirmed Young Living is well-respected for the purity of their products. Mom sponsored me into the business. My Mom is a tremendous source of knowledge, because she scours the desk reference and knows how an oil or a combination of oils is most likely to help a given concern based upon what she finds there. My niece is also a tremendous source of knowledge and information, and I’ve learned so much from both of them. I have much more to learn.
I’m taking it slowly. I have a small inventory of oils known to work in areas I’m interested in. I’ve since learned one of the keys is to make sure you purchase only “therapeutic” grade essential oils (which Young Living oils are). Those stand the best chance of being the healthiest to use. My focus is on wellness and ways I can use Young Living products to enhance my overall wellness.
I want the company to have control from the beginning to the end of the process, and I want them to exercise ethical actions to ensure the end product is safe from harmful materials. Young Living does this, and calls the process Seed to Seal. I like the involvement I see in Young Living’s use of rewards to educate their senior leaders on how the company works. They offer seminars to new Silvers and above where these distributors and leaders visit the Young Living farms and see firsthand how the products they use and sell are made. In the case of foreign farms, they also learn about the impact the farm has on the local community.
My mom saw immediate benefits from the oils she uses. She has told me she’s walking better, and she believes it’s because she’s sleeping better. We can improve our wellness by leaps and bounds simply by sleeping better. Many people diffuse Lavender and believe they achieve more beneficial sleep. Lavender comes in the Premium Starter Kit, which comes with everything you need to see how essential oils can enhance your overall wellness. The sample bottles and product samples make it easy to share with friends or others. People make common household products using the oils and are able to free their home from many harmful chemicals and fragrances.
Many people choose to become distributors simply to be able to purchase the products at a discount. And if that’s all you’d want to do, everyone is perfectly okay with that. But distributors also have the opportunity to build the business, which allows them to earn additional income simply by sharing something that works for them.
Is this something that might interest you? Feel free to browse the Young Living site. If you’re interested in becoming either a customer (at full retail price) or a distributor (either for the product discount or if you’re interested in actively building a business), please use my link. I’ll help you learn more, get you in touch with people who know more than me if I don’t know what you need, either for personal use or professional business building.
Not sure? Add yourself to my email list, and I’ll send periodic oil notes and related information. There’s no rush to decide if something like this is right for you.
