Wednesday Wanderings: Red Circles
Red circles. The Law of Substitution. I was going to say I detest red circles indicating I need to do an upgrade of some product. Then I realized red circles are one the trigger symbols for the Master Keys program I’m participating in, and they are supposed to be a good thing. Hmm. The Law of Growth says what I think about grows and what I forget atrophies. So, I should begin looking at red circles indicating I need to update a plugin or an app as a good thing, right?
Normally, I do. The circles are helpful for letting me know an upgrade is available. I become annoyed when the only reason the circle is there is to notify me I haven’t purchased the paid version of a supposedly free plugin. Since I hadn’t found any way to use the plugin, I deactivated it. So, yes, the red circle WAS a good thing. I decided I didn’t need to use a plugin that wasn’t clear how it could benefit me as presented. I presume if I couldn’t find value in the free version, why would I find value in the paid version? I saved myself money. So why was I annoyed? How silly of me! I’m forgetting all about that plugin and focusing on plugins that help my website do things I want them to do.
