Cats: Game Camera News
What’s new with the game camera? We’ve been out of town for a week, so I swapped game camera chips and took a look. The dynamics outside are completely different without our dynamic duo of Junior and Sneaky out there running the show. Boomer and Walter are regulars and the feeder, and I have the amount of food and the timing adjusted so they will get plenty of food if they show up during the day (they both prefer night, but Boomer seems willing to show up during daylight to get his meals.
After this session, he even lounged on the porch for a few minutes. Earlier that day, Walter made an appearance and spent time on the porch, too.
Three more cats appeared on the game camera. I have seen all of them before, but never in a situation where we could attempt to interact with them.
This kitty has Junior’s coloration in a long-haired version with less distinctive striping:
Then there’s a black or dark gray (can’t tell from the night vision) and white kitty:
That looks like Sapphire in the window keeping an eye on this one. She doesn’t realize quite how fortunate she is to not have to be outside yet, but I think she wants to.
I caught a glimpse of one more kitty. It looks like the calico I’ve seen periodically on earlier camera shots, but I haven’t seen it very often.
There you have it. Game camera activity for the past week. It will take a little while for things to settle down and the vacuum of two cats disappearing before the dynamics settle in. I need to catch Walter to take him in to be tested for FIV and get his shots (he was tested before he was neutered two years ago and was healthy, but he needs the preventative shot). I still need to capture Boomer and get him tested and neutered if healthy. I don’t know what the status is on these newcomers. Are they pets with homes taking advantage of free food? Or are they on their own? No idea yet.
