Cats: Welcome, Daisy.
In a development which will surprise no one, Daisy is now an inside cat. Mr. L expressed concerns that Zelda might reject her since she’s been gone so long as well as a couple other concerns. I need to put together another cat carrier. I have a couple damaged carriers, and I hope I can get a serviceable one from the various parts. If not, I’ll look for one at a yard sale.
Daisy is marginally more approachable than Sapphire. She holds her own with the bigger cats — Lady, Ajax, and Daphne have all been held at bay by her massive growl, but each has been negotiating for getting to know her. Lady sniffed this morning until there was an exchange of paws, and Lady sulked off. Daphne is now expressing curiosity. I think the “alphas” will get it all worked out in time. Daisy has no trouble asserting herself, but she also assumes the subservient role in an attempt to make a peaceful introduction.
Daisy and Rossie get along fine. Rossie has been mildly more outgoing since Daisy came into the house. I’m not sure what to make of that, and I’m going to try not to read too much into it.
Tarzan paid a visit to Dr. Val this week for more urinary tract troubles. He’s being put on a quarterly antibiotic regimen, and his Adequan regimen will increase to weekly for the rest of the month then drop to every two weeks. He had been on a monthly regimen.
After making several regular appearances, Walter is scarce again. Zelda is here regularly but has taken to disappearing for several hours at a time — perhaps she’s enjoying not being tied down by kittens for the first time in her life? We’re going to continue trying to earn her trust. My goal is to be able to pick her up and put her into a carrier for her annual veterinary visits.
We have a black kitty and an orange kitty paying semi-regular visits. Both are too skittish to approach or even talk to for now. The orange kitty is definitely a boy kitty, and we think the black kitty is, too.
