Cats: Ajax’s Solitude
Ajax is guest posting this week, sharing his story of unexpected solitude.
I’m not going to say how it happened. Suffice it to say sometimes I follow Dad, and this time I did. Mom and Dad were gone to two and a half days, and I found myself in an enforced solitude situation. With no food, water, or bathroom facilities.
I tried all the possible exits, but they were blocked. I even got up on the dresser and considered if I could make it to the transom above the door. The geometry didn’t look right to me, so I got down. I didn’t know what was going on, but Mom and Dad acted like they were going somewhere before I got stuck in here. They didn’t round us up and put us all in crates, so I knew they weren’t going to be gone too long. I settled onto the bed to wait. And wait. And wait.
They were only gone two days, but…this is embarrassing…my bladder gave out about the same time I heard them come home when I got up to wait for them to open the door. Dad came up, but it was too late. He understood. I dashed by him and went downstairs for a snack. I hope this doesn’t happen again. This is the longest I’ve been trapped somewhere, and I didn’t care for it.
