Cats: Lady Update
After staying mostly in one place, Lady put herself in the carrier last night. She tried going in there when I brought her home after seeing Dr. Val, but she was in too much pain to turn around, so she came back out. That she felt well enough to go into the carrier and turn around in the tight space was very encouraging to see last night. As of last night, she still hadn’t used the litter box, and I was mildly concerned, but this morning when I came downstairs, she had managed to do that too.
She’s been nibbling on food all along. I was concerned about her yesterday but I remembered that Dr. Val said my cats tend to go a long time without using the litter box when they are stressed, and I’m certain Lady was stressed from the pain and discomfort. Also, she has been responsive when I speak to her, alert, and has leaned in to being petted.
Lady got another pain medicine shot this morning. Dr. Val says the swelling is down significantly, and she thinks Lady won’t need another shot. I’ll see how she’s feeling on Wednesday and go from there. I’ll keep her in the cage for another week or two to limit her activity and give her a comfortable place to heal. So far, so good.
