Cats: July Heat
The outside cats know how to stay out of the heat, but they are ready and eagerly waiting for their can of food each morning. Zelda, Socks, Walter, and Scooter are all clamoring for their cans. Sometimes I give Zelda her can first on the back porch steps then call the boys around (Scooter is already on the edge of the side porch waiting). I have to quickly give Scooter and Socks a half can each to keep them from getting into a discussion about who gets what first. Then I can quickly fill Walter’s bowl and give him a quick pet before opening two more cans for the bottomless pits, er, Socks and Scooter. Scooter is very good about letting me bet him while he’s eating. Socks tolerates petting for a little while, then he swats at me. Walter loves pets as much as food, so when I finish with the boys, I go back to check on Zelda, who is usually just finishing her can.
After the morning, they all retire to their respective cool places to stay out of the heat. Zelda prefers under the back steps.
I had to make an unplanned trip back to Central Texas this week, so it was good to see the kitties.
