Cats: Walter One Month Update
Walter has been in the house for a month now. He is doing great. He’s such an affectionate cat. He’s still in the downstairs bathroom with Rossie. Walter’s job, should he choose to accept it, is to be Rossie’s friend. Of course, Rossie has some say in this, too. Two things have happened with Rossie in the last month. She went to see Dr. Valeri for her annual exam and vaccinations, and she got petted at that time, which re-established contact with her. I’ve made a point to reaching into her box and petting her every day since her vet visit, and Rossie has welcomed those experiences. The other thing is Walter moved in. Walter isn’t being pushy, and he and Rossie have coexisted without much fanfare.
This week, I’ve gone into the bathroom and Rossie has been out of her box several times. One time she was in the lower house of the cat tower — one of her favorite places. Walter has adopted the upper house, because he can look out the window from it. When Walter first moved into the house, he was begin talking when I entered the next room. Then he was quiet until I opened the door to the bathroom. This week, he’s stayed in the box and been quiet until I actually get into the room, then he comes out of the box and does his head butt (Walter has a strong head butt).
Walter has adapted well to being in the house, and he and Rossie are getting to know one another. I’m pleased so far.
