NBA Playoffs 2007

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on May 7, 2007 by JeanFebruary 11, 2016

Inuit and I are watching The Playoffs together, and shaking our heads. We are surprised anyone is shocked that the Miami Heat got eliminated in the first round. Obviously, none of those people who were shocked watched the opening game of the season where the Chicago Bulls dusted the Heat as they began their “title defense.” They didn’t play much better throughout the season.

As for the Detroit and Chicago series? I don’t believe it will last very long, but sometimes things change with a move to the losing team’s home court. If not, it will be a sweep.

The Dallas Mavericks? One need look no further back the Detroit Pistons of two years ago and the San Antonio Spurs last year. They aced the season but were too worn out to go the distance in the Playoffs. Neither team will make that mistake again for quite some time — and I doubt Dallas will either.

Of course, match ups have something to do with it. If Dallas had been matched up with any of the six remaining seeds instead of Golden State for the first round, they would likely still be in the mix. Golden State had their number. I suggest the same is true for Phoenix — if they were matched up with anyone but San Antonio in the second round, they’d do fine. San Antonio gives them fits. Dallas? They can beat Dallas — but with the match ups this year, they couldn’t get to Dallas without going through San Antonio. And now they won’t have that chance.

Utah and Golden State? I’m not sure. Their Game 1 is kicking off as I type, so we’ll see who’s hungrier.

I almost forgot, Cleveland and New Jersey. Need I say more? I suppose Cleveland will walk away with a win for the series. New Jersey might make them work for it. For the Eastern Conference Finals? Cleveland and Detroit. I’m not sure Cleveland is ready to pull it off, but they could. I’m leaning toward Detroit, but we’ll see who’s hungrier.

The Western Conference Finals? San Antonio and . . . I’m thinking Utah. No matter who, I think San Antonio can carry it all.

With Inuit sitting next to me, I can’t say anything different.

NBA Opening Night & Soundtracks

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on October 31, 2006 by JeanFebruary 11, 2016

It’s NBA opening night, so I’m sitting here watching NBA basketball on TNT with Inuit (Inuit waves to her webfriends). The Spurs don’t play until Thursday, so we’re just getting our off-season withdrawal relieved.

My primary goal this evening is to whittle down the NaNo soundtrack from 468 tracks to something manageable. I had better get started. Because, well, NaNo starts TOMORROW.

Inuit

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on October 14, 2006 by JeanOctober 14, 2006

For those of you unfamiliar with my sentient polar bear character, Inuit (pronounced Eye-Knew-It), you almost caught a fresh glimpse of her today.  I returned from my successful road trip and caught her ready to make a post.  Now that I’ve imported her “Polar Bear on the Loose” posts into this blog, I suspect I’ll have to let her post once in awhile.  Especially since my intent is for the Blogger version to go static.

Blogger Posts Imported

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on October 7, 2006 by JeanOctober 7, 2006

I finally took the plunge and imported Blogger posts from both blogs I had over there today. Polar Bear on the Loose is written by my character Inuit. Her posts are categorized under PBOTL — The Blog.

Rantings and Ravings for Twilight has been imported and categorized under Twilight Notes. Some posts have also been cross-referenced in other appropriate categories, and more will eventually be indexed better. For now, this will have to do.

I’ll delete the R&R for Twilight Blog. I may leave PBOTL.

By the way, after seeing “Uncategorized” several hundred times, I began to think it was spelled wrong. Also, the import feature in WordPress works very well.

NBA Playoff Basketball So Far

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on April 29, 2006 by JeanApril 29, 2006

As you might imagine, She and I have been watching the NBA Playoffs with intense interest. I’m not sure what She thinks–beyond the belief the Spurs will meet the Pistons in The Finals. Is there anyone on the planet who truly believes otherwise? – I have no respect for Kobe … Continue reading →

USA Baseball

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on March 19, 2006 by JeanMarch 19, 2006

How much longer before USA Baseball realizes the rest of the world has embraced baseball and passed us by? As with USA Basketball, we need to realize we can no longer rest on our laurels, show up, and collect our win.

Wintering Over

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on March 18, 2006 by JeanMarch 18, 2006

I’ve been roaming the pack ice with my friends and family. She has been focused on work and Her other writing projects and hasn’t had time for me. She also has the dog and cat, who take more of Her time. I’m still following the Spurs with my DirecTV hook-up. … Continue reading →

40-10

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on February 12, 2006 by JeanFebruary 12, 2006

The Spurs are working to remain in first place in the conference. The Mavericks are giving them a run for their money. Bill Walton, commentating on today’s game, emphasized how well Rasho Nesterovic has been playing this year. When the Spurs re-signed Rasho this summer, I had my doubts, but … Continue reading →

14-3

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on December 5, 2005 by JeanDecember 5, 2005

It’s hard to complain when your favorite team is 14-3. Even they admit they aren’t playing up to par. How much of that is knowing it’s a long, long season, and how much is sloppiness? I’ll get a chance to see how they are on Wednesday when they appear on … Continue reading →

Just a Little Seal with Wasabi, Please

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on November 23, 2005 by JeanNovember 23, 2005

While She’s off to the great soon-to-be-white North, She’s leaving me behind to watch the house. I’m groovin’ on basketball still. The Spurs are hot–well hotter than they usually are at the beginning of the season. I’m watching them on Yahoo! Sports Game Channel now, because She found a way … Continue reading →
