Olympic Women’s Marathon

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on August 25, 2004 by JeanAugust 25, 2004

I’m a few days late in commenting about this, but I watched the last half of the Olympic Women’s Marathon the other day. That may not sound like an exciting thing, but, like the Olympic Women’s Triathalon today, it was an exciting race. In the marathon, the Japanese and British … Continue reading →

Olympics Observations

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on August 17, 2004 by JeanAugust 17, 2004

I haven’t found basketball on the villa satellite programming. There’s something daunting about 900 satellite channels when you’re looking for one type of program. 900 channels becomes very “needle in a haystack” like. I’ve found no English programming carrying the Olympics, but German and something that sounds like French are … Continue reading →

First Draft Finished

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on August 8, 2004 by JeanAugust 8, 2004

At last! My dictation duties have been completed. I can return to unfettered pool lounging and take refuge in the air conditioning in the heat of the day. We finished dictation on the PBOTL first draft yesterday afternoon. I coaxed Her into the pool to celebrate tonight. She liked it. … Continue reading →

Olympics Basketball

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on July 28, 2004 by JeanJuly 28, 2004

I’m still trying to drag Her out to the pool with me. Last week, She told me She would go, but I have not been successful in getting Her in the pool this week. She stuck Her toes in. She knows it’s nice and cool, but She still won’t go. … Continue reading →

Free Agency

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on July 20, 2004 by JeanJuly 20, 2004

Between pool parties and forced dictation sessions here in Bahrain, I’ve been following the NBA Free Agency hoopla this summer. And an interesting summer it has been. I concur with the seemingly unanimous assessment that Utah has come out on top of this process. They got solid players with some … Continue reading →

And it’s the Pistons by a Mile!

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on June 18, 2004 by JeanJune 18, 2004

I know most people didn’t expect this type of finish in the NBA Finals. Not even I expected it. But the Pistons played like a team. They won like a team. They were better. When the Lakers fire on similar cylinders, they are a sight to behold, but it happens … Continue reading →

Bahrain

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on June 9, 2004 by JeanJune 9, 2004

Surprisingly, I’m more comfortable in Bahrain than I would be in Virginia this summer. The villa is kept comfortably cool. She wears Her long john shirt, but I’m cozy as can be. And the pool is right here. They complain that my fur clogs the filter, but, oh well…

Rats!

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on May 19, 2004 by JeanMay 19, 2004

She leaves the country for a week, and the Spurs fall apart. Ah well. It’s spring. Time for me to think of other things anyway. All this NBA Finals stuff was getting to be a distraction. Grumble, grumble, grumble. I just found out She is taking me to Bahrain with … Continue reading →

Game 2, Spurs 95-85

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on May 6, 2004 by JeanMay 6, 2004

Yup, sleeping in their own beds did a world of good for the Lakers in the effect it had on last night’s game. The Lakers didn’t have a chance. When they had the ball, San Antonio swarmed them. San Antonio sliced through them like a hot knife through butter, scoring … Continue reading →

Game 1, Spurs 88-78

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on May 2, 2004 by JeanMay 2, 2004

Well, the Lakers did show up, but they couldn’t quite hold things together. They threatened, even briefly overtook my guys, but in the end, they did not prevail. It wasn’t even close. That’s right, Coach Jackson, once you’ve been to San Antonio, there’s no reason to stay. In fact, if … Continue reading →
