Readers: Memory of Fire Opportunity

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on January 11, 2016 by JeanMarch 28, 2023

e6243559e8c5490c94ff70d68cb5ffc1Passing along an email from Holly Lisle, because I know a lot of you might want to read this book. This trilogy is well worth the investment to read — ebook, physical book, however you find it. Give it a read. This offer good until January 18. Holly’s email follows in it’s entirety:

Much to my surprise, I received an email from the promotions guy at HarperCollins a few days ago, letting me know that Memory of Fire, the first novel in my World Gates trilogy, was going to be on sale for 99¢ for a limited time.

He asked me if I wanted to do anything to promote it.

And I do. I loved that book.

Frankly, I loved the whole series. Set in small-town North Carolina, where I lived from the time I was nineteen until I was thirty-five, Memory of Fire let me tell a tale of secret heroes in a small Southern town, the magic on the other side of a mirror, a family struggling to save each other from destruction, and a growing threat to the existence of not just our universe, but all of them.

If that sounds like your kind of magic, pick up your 99¢ copy here today:

http://www.harpercollins.com/9780061833083/memory-of-fire

If you like Memory of Fire, just reply to this email to let me know.

If you love it, forward this email to a reader friend or three.

It’s a long shot, but enough interest from readers (“interest,” as defined by publishers, ONLY means sales) could stir up HarperCollins to ask for more books in the World Gates universe.

If that happened, I would be VERY interested in picking up where I left off.

The sale ends January 18th. That might be enough time to make magic happen.

Cheerfully,
Holly Lisle

P.S. The other two books in the series are Gods Old and Dark:

And The Wreck of Heaven:

Fresh Start

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on January 1, 2016 by JeanMarch 28, 2023

I’m looking for a fresh start for my web presence. For a long time, I reserved several domain names, tried to blog in different areas for different interests, but I’ve been feeling drawn to consolidating my interests in one area. It’s not quite as bad as you may think. I have two focus areas — Creative Expression (Journal, Reading, Writing) and True Health (Cats, Mater Key Experience, and Essential Oils). I wanted a place I could share the opportunity for my friends and readers (many times they are the same) to participate in enhancing their own health as well. Now, I can do that, and you can reap the benefits.

notebook fresh start

I haven’t decided upon the journaling schedule yet, but many of your old favorites will reappear. Cats, property, travel, technology, a random recommendation, and my husband’s beloved 1946 Mercurys will make periodic appearances. I’ve imported many posts from both Rantings and Ravings of An Insane Writer and Philosophical Meanderings, so if you have old favorites, they’ll likely be here.

Welcome. Please wander around. Help yourself to some Ningxia Red over in the Young Living area. It’s a tasty beverage made with wolfberries, among other things.

If you haven’t signed up to get these journal posts in your inbox yet, please head over to the box in the right sidebar (look for the bright yellow) and add yourself to the list right now (don’t forget to confirm your subscription).

See something that needs fixing or have suggestions to make navigation or reading easier? Please leave a comment or use the Contact form. Use the sharing buttons to let your network of folks know what they can find here. Thank you.

Tech Stuff: Advent Calendar

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on November 28, 2014 by JeanJune 14, 2019

Last year, a friend of mine gathered up several other authors and produced an advent calendar of science fiction and fantasy short stories.  She’s doing it again this year with an emphasis on fairy tales, myths, and legends. I want to spread the word so you can get in on the beginning of this fun event.  It’s a great way to find up to six authors you may not be aware of who resonate with your interests.

When you go to the site, a box will appear on your screen. Type in your email address and submit it.  Look for an email to come to your inbox with a link to validate that it was really you who input the address and you do want to receive the advent calendar offerings. That’s it.  Then wait for fresh fiction to come to you.
