What's New?

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on March 11, 2011 by JeanJanuary 8, 2021

I’ve blogged about WordPress, the iPad, and pizza lately.  I don’t know about you, but those are all topics I enjoy, but what else has been going on in my day-to-day world? I’m concerned about the on-going political battle in the United States.  I’m not in favor of public sector … Continue reading →

New Spirits: Americans in the Gilded Age, 1865-1900

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on January 21, 2011 by JeanMarch 28, 2023

I just finished reading New Spirits: Americans in the Gilded Age, 1865-1900 by Rebecca Edwards. In a nutshell, I learned nothing we’re experiencing right now in the United States politically or economically is new. The current day problems are eerily similar to the Gilded Age problems. Naturally, there’s some distress … Continue reading →

Scrivener 2.0 for Novel Critiquing

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on December 12, 2010 by JeanJune 15, 2019

I have a friend who has just finished a draft novel, and I’m lucky enough to be able to do some pre-reading for her.  She emailed it in a Word document, which I received in one email account on several different devices.  First, I opened it on the iPad, which … Continue reading →

Been Wondering Where I Am?

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on July 1, 2010 by JeanJune 14, 2019

Me, too.  Well, I know where I am.  I’m in the Central Texas location.  I guess the question should have been, “Whatcha doin?”  That’s was we always say Ajax is asking Natasha when he approaches her.  I know what I haven’t been doing. I haven’t been writing. I haven’t been … Continue reading →

God Don’t Like Ugly by Mary Monroe

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on June 23, 2010 by JeanJune 23, 2010

God Don’t Like Ugly is the first Mary Monroe book I’ve read.  It was available for free (briefly) at the Amazon Kindle site.  I found it to be a powerful book in many ways. While the primary characters in this book are Black, and we explore Black culture in the … Continue reading →

Exclusively Yours by Shannon Stacey

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on June 14, 2010 by JeanJune 14, 2010

I’ve been conversing off and on with author Shannon Stacey via Twitter, Facebook, and her blog for some time now.  I’m familiar with her Devlin Group series (have enjoyed it).  Exclusively Yours is a new release from Carina Press.  You can read more about it on Shannon’s Blog (and get … Continue reading →

Rooms by James L. Rubart

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on June 11, 2010 by JeanJanuary 8, 2021

I downloaded Rooms to my Kindle app from Amazon’s while it was available as a free download.  The cover looked good, and the description sounded interesting.  I guess if I were familiar with Ted Dekker’s House, I wouldn’t have been so surprised by this book, but I’m not, so I … Continue reading →

I’ve Been Sucked In

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on May 28, 2010 by JeanMay 28, 2010

Yes, I’ve actually purchased e-Books now.  Interestingly, it appears if I purchase them from Amazon via a computer, I don’t get charged sales tax. If I purchase them via the Kindle app, I do get charged sales tax.  I wonder why the difference?

Reading on iPad

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on May 6, 2010 by JeanMay 6, 2010

I have a confession.  I’ve been reading on my iPad.  Darnit.  I have some paper books I need to make some progress on, but I’m enjoying reading on the iPad. What has tempted me to the backlit side?  Kindle features free current Kindle editions, and some of them have looked … Continue reading →
