iGTD
I just found a neat Widget for the Mac tonight — iGTD. If you’re using a Mac OS and you’re a fan of GTD (or even if you don’t know much about Getting Things Done), this widget is worth checking out.
If you use MS Outlook, you can, with some effort, configure Outlook to function in a GTD environment, but this widget is designed with GTD principles in mind. So far, I’ve been loading tasks and setting them up with Context (Home, Office, etc), Project, and Priority. I haven’t gotten to deciphering my Next Actions yet, but we have a load of tasks, and I’m trying to get them out of my head and into a system. So far, this is exactly what I was looking for to do that. If you’re using a Mac, go check it out. If you prefer, here’s the iGTD website.
If you use this, don’t enter a lot of data until you understand how to use it. I had a ton of stuff input, thought I’d saved and backed it up, and now I can’t find it.
The key appears to be to save often and be extra cautious when syncing. I turned off sync, but the program crashed and I lost a few entries. Save often. Back up regularly. Somehow, my first backup must have been empty. Not sure how that happened.
