Happy Saturday. Time for an indoor-outdoor cat update. Let’s start with the outdoor cats.
We haven’t made a holder for the feeder with the timer yet, so I’m putting out a bowl of food in the morning. Walter is usually around between 2 am and 9 am. The long-haired gray and Boomer seem to come together. I think Boomer is keeping an eye on her. I also believe she has kittens somewhere nearby, which is one reason I want to make sure she has food available at a regular time. The gray whitefoot and the one that looks like Daphne’s sibling have been stopping by regularly. I saw gray whitefoot up the street the other day at a house where I’ve seen a lot of cats before. The raccoon has been making regular appearances too. I also saw what looked like a very pregnant opossum on camera a couple nights ago. Just what we need.
For the indoor cats, we’ll start with the indoor newcomer, Sneaky. She has let us know she really prefers to be alone in the downstairs bathroom. We make several trips a day in there, and I’ve started doing my meditation in my recliner, and I open the bathroom door, and she joins me for meditation time. She’s going to be a good recovery buddy after I have my right knee replaced.
Sapphire is approximately nine months old. She has finally figured out to (usually) be where I can reach her, so I can pick her up and hold her before she gets released to the kitchen and parlor for the day. She’s tolerating being held for a few moments longer each morning. She and Rossie both willingly go back in the cage at night, usually between 8 and 9 pm. Then I open the parlor door so Ruby can come downstairs and eat. Ruby doesn’t socialize with us when she’s downstairs. When she’s upstairs, there are a few places where she’ll let up approach her and pet her.
Lady still has her moments. She chases Sapphire, and Sapphire runs, but she’ll turn and look for Lady after she’s escaped. I think it’s sort of a game with them. Rossie does NOT like Lady, and those two still have their moments. Lady has become quite possessive of Mr. L, which he finds alternately annoying and charming.
This is Daphne’s favorite time of year, because the lizards are on the screens on the windows, and she likes to chase them through the glass. This ensures she gets yelled at for knocking curtains down. Tarzan and Delta are becoming quite demanding for their pets. Ajax has been a twit with Sneaky, and I’m sure he’s the number one reason Sneaky doesn’t want to join us in the rest of the house. Sapphire adores him, as do all the other cats.
