Piling Up

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on March 24, 2010 by JeanFebruary 11, 2016

My Bloglines reads are piling up again.  I read certain ones but am letting others sit.  My Lexulous and Scrabble games are staying current.  I need to finish Week 4 of HTRYN.  There’s a lot of stuff going on. The roof installation is complete at the shop.  Hubby and I … Continue reading →

Starting Week 4

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on March 18, 2010 by JeanFebruary 11, 2016

I finished Week 3 of  HTRYN last night.  That means I’m ready to start Week 4.  Week 4 involves spreading my index cards out and categorizing them as PLOT, SUBPLOT, and NOTPLOT (all those scenes that went WAAAAY off the reservation, so to speak).  This should be kind of fun.

HTTS and/or HTRYN

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on March 9, 2010 by JeanJanuary 22, 2025

Revising Progress

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on February 21, 2010 by JeanFebruary 11, 2016

True to form, I’m averaging about a month to complete each week’s lesson in the How to Revise Your Novel course.  I started Week 3 this week, which requires me to summarize each scene in the novel in one Sentence For Revision.  This helps us see what’s missing from a … Continue reading →

HTRYN, Week 2

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on January 16, 2010 by JeanFebruary 11, 2016

I’m just getting started on this challenging lesson, but I think I’m getting the hang of it.  I’m on page 11 (of 320) and just found my first unintended promise for the book.  There may have been some earlier than this, but I don’t think so.  If anything, I’ve bludgeoned … Continue reading →

Characters and Promises

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on January 12, 2010 by JeanFebruary 11, 2016

As part of Lesson 2, I need to evaluate my characters to make sure they’re being all they can be.  I was thinking no big deal, I only have two characters.  Piece of cake. Um. No.  I have two point of view characters.  I think I found all the others, … Continue reading →

HTRYN, Week 1, Completed

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on January 12, 2010 by JeanFebruary 11, 2016

Finally.  I’ve finished the Week 1 lesson.  I started at the beginning of December and just finished.  The only worksheet I don’t think I filled out well was the “Where did you like your story” sheet.  And I missed it because I got caught up in reading the story and … Continue reading →

Closing in On HTRYN, Week 1

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on January 10, 2010 by JeanFebruary 11, 2016

The end for this week’s lesson (six-seven, eight weeks into it) is in sight!  Less than fifty pages to go. One thing is recurring — cool as the idea of polar bears the world over using Panasonic ToughBooks to communicate may be, I’ve come to believe it’s not workable for … Continue reading →

Still On HTRYN, Week 1

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on January 4, 2010 by JeanFebruary 11, 2016

I’m not sure how many weeks I’ve been on this week’s lesson now, but I’m still plugging along.  I’m on page 240 of 320.  Have I mentioned I really like this bear? I know Week 2 is on promises, and I see a few places where I’ll be making notes … Continue reading →

Reflecting on 2009

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on December 30, 2009 by JeanFebruary 11, 2016

2009 has been an interesting year.  It’s my first full year of retirement.  There’s still no time for boredom. We experienced some sadness.  My paternal grandmother died in February — complications of old age.  She was my favorite grandmother when I was younger — she was a kid’s grandmother.  She … Continue reading →
