We’re working in San Antonio for a couple of weeks. Perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised, but the transition between houses seems to have thrown the kittens for a loop — especially Tarzan.
I went to the Apple Store for a little while tonight and perused the new MacBookPros, iPad2s, and other sundry items. The MacBookPros are lovely machines. The iPad2 cameras are just fine (as we suspected), and the new machine feels good in my hands and is noticeably lighter than the original. I was concerned how button operation would be with the more sharply sloped sides, but the buttons felt comfortable to operate.
As for the sundry items I investigated, one was a mouse. I’m not getting along with the track pad on the Air. Logitech makes a nice ambidextrous Bluetooth mini-mouse. The track pad on the Airs in the store seemed to work fine, so I must have some settings wrong on mine. I decided to fiddle with mine a little more before saddling myself with a peripheral. The second sundry item is a small, portable external hard drive, preferably 1Tb, but 750G would probably be ok. I’d like to use Time Machine for the Air, too, but I don’t want a bulky external drive for it. There were two to consider — a Western Digital My Passport in 1Tb and a G-Drive in 750G. They cost the same, but the G-Drive has a three year warranty vice a two year warranty for the Western Digital. Something in the back of my mind nagged that some people have had trouble with Western Digital. I decided to wait and do a little research before making a purchase.
I haven’t been here since January. Guess what happened? Of course, all the hedges grew. Note to self: When choosing landscaping materials for Central Texas house, pick slow growing shrubbery for places that will require trimming.
