Definite. Major. Purpose. The meat and potatoes of the course. Why am I here? This is where you answer the question for you. This is why this isn’t a self-help or a brainwashing course (except for brainwashing yourself to achieve the things you want in life). What do you want most out of life?
Write it down in positive terms. Why positive terms? Because subby doesn’t understand negatives. If you don’t want debt, but you talk about getting out of debt, subby thinks you want to keep getting out of debt as what you want most in life. Eek! Tell subby you want to be “financially free” and subby can help you achieve that. So much better than perpetual debt, don’t you think? Don’t blame subby. You told it you wanted to “get out of debt” as your goal, so he/she happily helps you to keep getting into debt so you can enjoy getting out of it. Don’t do that to yourself.
Phrase your definite major purpose in happy, upbeat, positive terms. Use lots of emotion and feeling, yes, even if you think you aren’t an emotional person, subby is. Tell subby when you want it by. Subby needs deadlines. Not too tight but not too far in advance either.
And, of course, you don’t get something for nothing. What are you going to give up so you can achieve your dream? And, of course, you have to word that in positive terms, too, because, subby hears “quit procrastinating on the Internet” and interprets it completely different from what you intend.
Here are the six steps:
1. What do you desire most? Fix that in your mind. Be definite.
2. Determine exactly what you will give in return (there is no such thing as something for nothing).
3. Establish a definite date when you will possess what you desire.
4. Create a plan for achieving your desire. Begin at once whether you are ready or not. Do something. Do it now.
5. Write a clear, concise statement of what you desire, the time limit for its acquisition, what you intend to give in return, and describe clearly the plan through which you intend to accumulate it. You can do this in less than 400 words (yes, you can!).
6. Read your written statement aloud with enthusiasm at least twice daily, once upon awakening and once before retiring at night. See and feel yourself as already in possession of what you most desire.
