Zelda’s kitten could mean quite a lot. In fact, it probably reaches even further than I think it might. I’m reasonably certain Sapphire is Zelda’s kitten. Nick is Zelda’s kitten. But today’s Zelda’s Kitten is a little girl six weeks old. I caught glimpses of her earlier in the week, but I got an extended viewing yesterday.
I like this photo. It shows an attentive Nick on the ductwork, a relaxed Zelda doing personal grooming, and a six-week kitten exploring near her mama.
I went outside not too long ago, and Nick was laying on the ductwork. He was relaxed but attentive. I sat on the steps and talked to him. He listened but made no move toward me. He kept glancing down between the ductwork. I sensed the kitten was there, but I couldn’t see her. I asked him if he was babysitting. He didn’t answer, but he kept an attentive eye between me and between the ductwork. Zelda was not around, but I needn’t have worried. She appeared not long after, coming between the porch railing with a lizard in her mouth. Kitten was about to get some solid food. I wouldn’t be surprised if Zelda injured the lizard just enough for Kitten to be able to catch it herself in an early hunting lesson. Sure enough, Zelda went under the ductwork and Kitten appeared. I left so Zelda could teach or feed in peace.
I captured a fascinating 8:32-minute video of kitten cuteness yesterday. It’s posted on The Love Cats Facebook page. Head on over, Like, and check it out.
