EndlesS Has Arrived
Stephen B. Bagley’s (our very own Tech) EndlesS: A Collection of Poems arrived in the mail today, and I’m already enjoying it. Lulu does a fine job of packaging. EndlesS is a slim volume of poetry with a very attractive cover. I’ve noticed poetry packaged this way is just nicer. I don’t know why, but I think it reads better that way. My copy came carefully packed in cushioning material, thus ensuring it didn’t slide around inside it’s cardboard wrapper.
I like textured poetry — where the words are arranged in a manner indicating a shape or texture. I know there’s a name for it, but I can’t recall it. The poem “Endless” is formatted in an hourglass shape, and the unpunctuated verses (endless, get it?) also function to participate in the form just so. So far, this is my favorite in the book.
“Concrete” poetry might be term you’re looking for, but shaped poetry works just as well.
I’m so glad you’re enjoying it. I suggest short breaks between the darker poems. I’ve been told that they can get over-whelming when read all at once.
I think my current favorite is “Hush.” I like it because it says exactly what I imagined it would when I was writing it. If that makes sense.
