  1. I graduated in 1979 so we must have been in high school at the same time. The elementary school I attended is still in use. But where our middle school set is now a grocery store and a bank. Our old Jr. High School sits vacant. And my old High School is now the Jr. High. I remember until high school we had endless rows of windows and each classroom had one large circular fan with wire around it that would create a breeze through the classroom. In high school we had central air. Yippee!

    • My junior high in Charles City, Iowa, is apparently being closed down. It’s a gorgeous Art Deco building with (as I remember them) wide hallways and spacious rooms with a new (in 1973) cafeteria, shop, gymnasium, and natatorium addition. I imagine it’s a bit dated now, but I’m so sorry to hear they’re talking of scrapping the building.

  2. I went to a lot of schools, but here is the one where I attended 4th, 5th, and part of 6th grades.

They are now using it as a venue. Ha! For many years it was used as a storage facility for the city of Bedford. That’s the longest I went to one school, so it stands out in my mind.

    Lovely to see the artwork!
