Cats: Here’s What I Know As of Now
My last Boomer sighting was on kitty cam on July 30, 2016 at 9:30 pm. He has not been well for some time, and at this point, I suspect he has succumbed to his illness.
I have more clarity on some of our kitty visitors. The beautiful male gray kitty with white paws and dress shirt, the one I call Grey Socks appears to belong four houses up the street. The white kitty with gray eye shadows, whom I call Daphne’s Sister, also lives there with her three kittens, who appeared with her on the kitty cam last night. When I walk by, I only see three cat food cans on the garage floor, so I suspect they aren’t getting enough to eat at home. If I ever see the people who live there outside, I plan to ask them about the kitties. Gray Socks is friendly (Mr. L petted him on the porch the other morning). If they say the kitties are strays they are feeding, I’ll ask about catching them and getting them fixed.
Gray Fluffy Tail (whom I secretly call Zelda) is a regular visitor night and day, and her gorgeous swirly tabby son spends considerable time here with her between 9pm and 3 am. I stepped outside the other night around 9:30 and noticed the cats under my truck, so I sat on the back steps and talked to them. Little Boy peeked out from behind my back tire at me for several minutes before scurrying to mom and heading across the street with her.
For the inside cats, Monday morning will see a new experiment. When we let Rossie and Sapphire out of the cage in the morning, the parlor door will not be closed. They will have the run of the house like the other cats. Hopefully, Rossie will not choose to hide upstairs, and hopefully, Sapphire will choose to hang out downstairs with us most of the time.
We’ll see how Rossie responds to this. She may need the structure she’s had for the last year in the smaller area of the parlor (she rarely goes in the kitchen even though it’s open to her). I hope she will choose to remain downstairs with us. She and I will discuss whether she needs to go into the cage at night to ensure a peaceful night and security from Lady’s harassment.
Sneaky still prefers to sequester herself in the dining room and downstairs bathroom area, so we permit her that comfort.
Walter, for reasons we don’t fully understand, is still on nightshift. That means he doesn’t visit us on the porch in the morning or evening. Kitty cam verifies he is alive, well, and visiting regularly.
Boomer Update: He appeared on camera on August 14th, so as of that date, he’s still with us.
