Cats: Sneaky and Ajax
Ajax does not like Sneaky. We do not know why. We keep them separate from each other. Labor Day weekend, Ajax found a way to get closed in with Sneaky while we weren’t looking. Sometime during that time, he gave her a good bite on her back side. It got infected. Last Wednesday, I noticed it wasn’t healing the way it should have been and took them both to see Dr. Val.
Dr. Val cleared the area around the wound, gave Sneaky a shot of antibiotics and a shot for pain, applied ointment to the open lesion, and sent me home with the ointment to be applied twice daily if Sneaky would let me. So far, she’s letting me. Her wound is healing.
I took Ajax with me because he had been urinating inappropriately, but I didn’t know if it was behavioral or if he was trying to tell us he had a problem. One quick ultrasound later, we knew he had a problem, so he also got a shot of antibiotic and pain medication. When I got home, I administered a dose of Tarzan’s Adequan. He’ll be on a weekly dose for the near future.
I think it’s time to get all ten cats an ultrasound so we know who needs treatment for UTIs and who doesn’t.
