Yes, I was in Ada, Oklahoma, on October 30th signing Blackbirds First Flight. This was a first for me, but it made it so much easier to be doing it with my more experienced friends Stephen Bagley and Wendy Blanton. I was thrilled to get to meet fellow co-author Gail Henderson. Here are a few photos from the event. I also enjoyed meeting so many of Stephen Bagley’s friends.
When we arrived at the Ada Public Library yesterday afternoon to set everything up for the book signing, we discovered Stephen’s friend Jennifer already there with the treats. (Don’t they look yummy?) The wonderful library staff had our tables ready for us.
Once Stephen and Eric arrived, we didn’t take too long to transform the space for the signing (really a party):
Tamara Siler Jones (‘Endorphins’ author) joined us via Skype from Iowa:
Finally, we had people show up, buy books, and just hang around chatting. Nothing boring or stuffy about this party!
Stephen has two friends named Gail, and both of them were at the signing tonight. This is Stephen and his Gails.
We had a few young people in costume show up. I recall seeing an Egyptian princess, a mermaid, Darth Vader, a character from an animated series I didn’t recognize, but when he took his mask off, I’d have guessed he was one of Robin Hood’s Merry Men (I’ve been informed the character was a ‘Dark Jedi’).
Darth Vader likes Smarties. (I guess the photographer was a little shaky due to the proximity to Darth.)
I almost forgot about R2-2D2-2:
Halloween wouldn’t be complete without a light sabre (I think Eric lost an eyebrow or two…):
Thank you to everyone who came out to make it a successful and enjoyable evening.
