WordPress 2.0.1 Release

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on February 1, 2006 by JeanFebruary 1, 2006

Just my experience:  It doesn’t work.  The upgrade.php file was looking for files that weren’t there.  I reinstalled my 2.0 files and I think things are back to normal.  Whew!  That was an ugly, ugly forty minutes while I fought with that.

T&T First Pass

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on January 29, 2006 by JeanJanuary 29, 2006

I completed my first look at the first 163 pages of Threads & Ties yesterday. Erin from FM graciously looked at my childbirth scene and told me how wrong I had it (never done that, and the Internet is only good for so much). I’ll have some things to fix … Continue reading →

Time to Resume Editing

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on January 27, 2006 by JeanJanuary 27, 2006

Or, more correctly, revision. FM is having an Edit Marathon this weekend, and I figure it’s a good time to get that solid kick in the seat of the pants I’ve been needing. I shouldn’t be doing too much to this, and I’m still adding notes to add Jeff’s siblings … Continue reading →

iPod Nano

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on January 19, 2006 by JeanJanuary 19, 2006

So hubby found an iPod nano on the streets of Chicago over Thanksgiving. It still worked, but the bottom half of the screen is damaged. After purchasing a USB to iPod cable (Apple has decided to abandon FireWire for these guys, I guess, because, while I can charge the nano … Continue reading →

Attention to Detail

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on January 18, 2006 by JeanJanuary 18, 2006

I just learned a co-worker lives on the same street I do. If it were, say, Broadway in New York, this wouldn’t be a big deal, but my street is, technically, one block long, and, realistically, about two and a half blocks long. I’ve lived here for six months. I … Continue reading →

WordPress 2.0 Annoyances

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on January 15, 2006 by JeanDecember 14, 2016

I’ve encountered two annoying things with WordPress 2.0, and neither thing is directly WordPress’ fault. Both are a problem with ZoneAlarm Pro, my firewall. One, the “enable referrers” problem surfaced tonight, and I think it’s solved–I had to enable Private Headers for my blog site. Easy enough. If you’ve encountered … Continue reading →

Revision Progress

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on January 15, 2006 by JeanJanuary 15, 2006

I’ve worked on Threads & Ties revisions. Chapter 2 is way too large. I’m looking for a division scheme to break it up beyond years. So far, I’ve got “Fall Semester 1978” (Chapter 2) and “Christmas Break 1978” (Chapter 3). I’ve found another 1500 words earmarked for deletion. I have … Continue reading →

Breakfast and Friday the 13th

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on January 13, 2006 by JeanApril 20, 2025

I had the privilege of having breakfast with Marshall Goldsmith of Marshall Goldsmith Partners and Frances Hesselbein of Leader to Leader, formerly The Drucker Foundation, as well as Mr. Larry Olson from Wiley Publishing, my commander, and seven of my colleagues this morning. I knew I was going to be … Continue reading →

Cat Burps?

Philosophical Meanderings, Too Posted on January 12, 2006 by JeanJanuary 12, 2006

Somewhere along the line, I’d heard cats were incapable of burping. Tonight, while reading blogs (me, not Tasha), Tasha was sitting on my chest purring. I kept hearing this periodic sound. I finally figured out she had hiccups. Then, out of nowhere, I heard “brrrp” (it wasn’t me!). The cat … Continue reading →
